Nancy Lee Ring, née McLaughlin, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, surrounded by love, with her daughter, Alyssa, by her side as Father Joseph prayed over her. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Dennis.
Nancy was born on September 9, 1947, in Northampton, Massachusetts, to Helen and Roy McLaughlin. Her family made their way to California, where her father’s family resided, and settled in Stockton where Nancy spent her life. She graduated from Stagg High School in 1965 and went on to attend Delta College. It was at the time when she was at the police department, working as a stenographer, that Nancy met her husband, Dennis Ring, and the two married on June 9, 1968. Together they raised three children: Christopher, Gregory, and Alyssa. After Greg's birth, Nancy left her job to stay home with the children and help manage the properties she and Dennis owned. Later, when her kids were grown, she gave her time generously as a volunteer at Dameron Hospital helping others in need.
Nancy and Dennis loved traveling to Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, where they might catch a concert — Cher, if they were lucky. Nancy was famous among her family for her love of people-watching — always quietly observing and listening to the world around her, much to everyone's amusement. She could often be spotted driving around town in her Mercedes, McDonald's coffee in hand, stopping for refills throughout the day. An avid sports fan - Nancy could be found dropping in for a local UOP basketball game or driving out to wherever her niece, Kimberly, was playing or coaching volleyball. She was a wonderful cook, Nancy was beloved for her lasagna, potato casserole, and pecan pie. But above all, her grandchildren, Bryce and Madison, were the true joys of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Roy, and her husband, Dennis, in 2020. She is survived by her sister, Judy Sordello; her children, Christopher Ring, Gregory Ring, and Alyssa (Matthew) Nielsen; her grandchildren, Bryce (14) and Madison (11) Nielsen; her nieces, Kimberly (Keith) Lambert, Stephanie (Chase) Bennett, and Alana (Mike) Tangolics; and three grand-nieces and three grand-nephews.
Nancy will be deeply missed and always remembered as an incredible mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
