Pat was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Shepherd; his parents, Jack and Florence Shepherd; and his brother, Gary Shepherd.
Pat was born on March 5, 1950 in Denver, Colorado, to Florence and Jack Shepherd, who instilled in him the values of faith, hard work, and family that guided his life. He attended St. Anne’s School in Lodi, St. Joseph’s Seminary in Mountain View and graduated from Lodi High School in 1968. Pat continued his education at San Joaquin Delta College and proudly served in the National Guard. He married Deana Fregien in ___1972; they were blessed with three beautiful children. In 1985, Pat married Alicia Miller, his partner in life and love, and together they welcomed two more beautiful children. Over 40 years, side by side, Pat and Alicia built a beautiful life and raised a family of five children, which grew through marriage to include 10 in total. The family further blossomed with the joy of 15 grandchildren.
Pat was a creator and a visionary. He spent many years working in construction, building throughout Northern California and Nevada, but he took particular pride in the homes he built in the Carmel and Pebble Beach area. Pat carried forward the legacy begun by his parents at Pelton Shepherd Industries, growing a small company into an industry leader in gel refrigerants by establishing just-in-time systems and facilities across the country and internationally. For more than 35 years, Pat and his wife ran the company together, with their children contributing in various roles. It was, in every sense, a true family business.
Pat was not only an astute businessman, but also a generous mentor who freely shared his time and talents with others. He was quick to listen and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Pat never met a stranger; he made friends easily, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. He served on numerous boards over the years, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stockton, Church of the Presentation, and the Red Rhino Project in Kenya, He was also instrumental in the construction of the Community Center at St. Edward’s Parish among many other efforts. Pat also served as an Engaged Couple Sponsor, an RCIA and Confirmation Sponsor, and a godparent to many, including families here in Stockton and 15 children in Africa. Pat was also invited to become a member of and later inducted into the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher.
Pat’s presence will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the lives he touched will carry his memory forward forever.
