It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Rolando “Rolly” Abolencia Macaraeg, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 29, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on July 9, 1946, in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Rolando was the beloved son of Eulojio Macaraeg and Juana Abolencia. Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his kind and generous heart.
Rolando proudly served as the Lead Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his professionalism, integrity, and leadership. After moving to the United States, he continued serving others as a caregiver in Stockton, California, providing compassionate care and comfort to those in need.
For 45 wonderful years, Rolando shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Nenita Macaraeg. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and countless cherished memories.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nenita; his children, Federico, Janboy, Ronald, and Harold; and his five beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Rolando had many talents and passions. He enjoyed carpentry, where his skilled hands built and repaired with care. He loved singing and playing the guitar, often bringing music and happiness to family gatherings. His infectious humor, warm smile, and ability to make others laugh made him a joy to be around.
Even during the final weeks of his life, Rolando’s greatest concern was his family, especially his beloved wife. Despite his own illness, he continued showing his love in thoughtful ways, playfully encouraging Nenita to get a haircut and color their graying hair together so they would both “look good.” He never stopped making her laugh, and those precious moments of laughter will forever remain among the family’s most treasured memories. His love was constant, selfless, and unwavering until the very end.
Rolando leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, humility, hard work, and compassion. His strength, wisdom, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
“He found joy in family, music, and simple moments, a life lived with love and a song always close to his heart.”
