Rosario McGurk Maycotte Baldoz

Our MAMA Rosario McGurk Maycotte (formerly known as Rosie Baldoz), a native of Masbate, Philippines, passed peacefully in her home on February 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, in Stockton, California, at the age of 89.

MAMA was born on October 1, 1933, to James Mendoza McGurk and Genara Baner; and her brothers Thomas Baner McGurk and Henry Baner McGurk.

MAMA is survived by her brother Ralph Baner McGurk; and her children Jimmy, Leonardo Jr., Marian, Leorose, Luzoiminda, and Christopher. She leaves her grandchildren Patrick, Chaulzy, Nicole, Ann Marie, Myron, Alex, Ashley, Chris Jr., Xavier, Chrisandra, Ayden, Richard, Jimmy Jr., Imee, Rommel, Rustico Jr.; her greatgrandchildren - Tristan, Mateo, Trinity, Theodore, Serafina, Justine, Calvin, Anghelika, Andzhelle, and Claudia.

MAMA started her acting career and live performances between 1950s to 1960s with Everlasting Film Production, as Rosa Mendoza, in the Philippines. She played in various classic Filifino movies, one to mention, Og (taong bundok

"Tarzan"), an action/adventure movie with Cesar Gallardo in 1952, Premiere Production. She also costarred with various actresses and actors including Paraluman, Rosa Rosal, Tessie Quintana, Cesar Ramirez, and others.

Additionally, she also played in various live performances at the Araneta Coliseum. She was part of a live stage performance called Bulakenyo and Manilenya Dramatic Group, she played the main princess in Principe Gallardo.

They performed in several cities and provinces, with our dad (Leonardo S.

Baldoz), also being her co-star. She was a councilwoman of Matungao, Masbate, between 1975 to 1980. She loved to dance, she was a ballroom dancer (tango and waltz) and was well-versed in many other dance forms.

Mama was an active member of the senior citizen community. She worked as a caregiver and volunteered at Eden Square and McFall Senior Community Centers in Stockton, California. She loved cooking, casinos, bingo, singing, and dancing. She was always the life of the party.
