

Rosemary Frerich March 30, 1940 – March 25, 2016 Rosemary Margaret (Leahy) Frerich passed away peacefully on March 25, 2016. The daughter of a farmer and a teacher, Rosemary attended elementary and high school in West Union, Iowa, and Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa where she earned a degree in Music Education in 1962. Rosemary married Nicholas (Nick) Frerich on August 3, 1963. In 1971, she and Nick relocated to Stockton, where they raised three sons, Scott Andrew, Philip Louis, and Mark Nicholas. Rosemary’s heart has always been in education. While in the Midwest, she directed high school and adult theater students in Iowa and Indiana and received numerous statewide awards for her musical productions. In Stockton, she owned and operated Creative Pastime Nursery School and taught for several years in the Lincoln Unified School District. Rosemary established the kindergarten program at Presentation School and taught there until her retirement. She remained active with Presentation Parish after her retirement by coordinating religious programs. In her spare time, Rosemary fell back on her love of the performing arts and took to the stage with the Stockton Theater and Senior Follies. Rosemary wore many hats throughout her life, but will be best remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher. Rosemary remained devoted to the Catholic faith, supported Saint Mary’s High School, and took great pride in her Irish heritage. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Winifred (Flanagan) Leahy and her husband of 51 years, Nick. She is survived by son Scott (Sally) and grandchildren Daniel and James; son Philip (Kendra) and grandchildren Brooklyn and Adam; son Mark (Cassi) and three grandchildren. The family would like to thank St. Joseph's Medical Center and associated doctors, O’Connor Woods and Hospice of San Joaquin for their loving care. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Presentation, West Benjamin Holt Drive, on Thursday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Mary's High School or a charity of your choice.
