

Rosendo Marquez Sr., 66, passed away on July 6 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Rosendo was born in Valle Nuevo, Zacatecas. In 1966, he was the first in his family to come to the United States. Rosendo would send back money each month to his parents and ten siblings, and over the years he helped them come to the U.S.
Rosendo and his wife, Pascuala, moved their family from Pasadena to Stockton in 1974. He worked as a construction worker until he retired in 2006. He was a member of Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 73. Rosendo enjoyed attending Sunday mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, eating at local restaurants, watching horse races, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Francisca, and his sister, Engracia.
Rosendo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pascuala, four children, Letisia (Los Angeles), Roberto, Rosendo Jr. (both of Stockton) and Sofia (San Francisco), as well as five grandchildren, Tatiana, Pablo R., Roberto “R.J.” Jr., Iliana, and Cecilia. He was loved by his family, siblings and friends.
A rosary will be held Monday, July 13 at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel at 6 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s. Burial will take place at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
