Our father Rudy Retamoza Sr. left us on May 3, 2022 at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Rudy is sadly missed but will live on in all our hearts. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin, and a friend to all. Rudy is survived by his loving wife Carole, his children Angela, Rudy (Monica), Maria, his grandchildren Siena, Maya, and Aidan, and his brothers, Manuel and George.
Rudy worked at the United States National Forest, his regions were Los Padres (Santa Barbara), and Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County. Rudy impacted many lives with his work with under privileged youth and young adults. He helped create a working relationship with gang members of Los Angeles and underprivileged adults by bringing them into urban gardens and working together to beautify their communities. He was extremely passionate about his work with the Wonderful Outdoor World Program (WOW), which he helped create with colleagues and the Walt Disney Co. The WOW program introduced inner-city school aged children to the adventures of outdoor recreation and environmental education. Through the WOW program Rudy had the opportunity to be a part of the Rose Bowl Parade, which he enjoyed immensely. Rudy had many accomplishments, including working with Disney, designing campgrounds and trails in the forests, making maps to help fight forest fires while surveying by helicopter, landscaping and creating Green Link, an environmental education program between the forest and the city of Los Angeles. Rudy had a great love for learning as evident with his degrees from UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and UCLA. He also loved the sport of baseball, he loved his Dodgers, he loved the beach and most importantly he loved his family and friends.
There will be a celebration of life on Friday, April 28,2023 at 11am. The service will be at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church 2544 Plymouth Rd., Stockton, Ca.
