Born in Stockton, California, on June 8, 1960, Shelley discovered her first true passion early in life on the tennis courts. A fierce competitor and an exceptional talent, she was the top-ranked player under 18 in San Joaquin County. Over her lifetime, she built lasting roots within a vibrant tennis community that deeply loved and admired her for both her skill and her sportsmanship. In the USTA ladies doubles league, everyone wanted to partner with Shelley because she was so good and fun to play with.
Shelley was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, where she first made her mark as a standout Trojan athlete. Her tennis journey and academic excellence took her to the University of California, Davis, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and proudly competed for the Aggies. Deepening her commitment to learning, she later returned home to complete her graduate studies at the University of the Pacific.
In 1983, Shelley’s life came full circle when she was hired by her alma mater, Lincoln High School, to teach mathematics. It was the beginning of an extraordinary, unparalleled 42-year career.
While Shelley taught all levels of mathematics, she was most widely celebrated for her mastery in teaching Calculus. Known affectionately for “The Landucci Way,” she challenged students to reach their potential while providing the support, consistency and encouragement needed to succeed; she inspired thousands of students to believe in their own potential. She modeled high expectations in all that she did- she was the first to arrive at school at 5am and the last to leave at 5pm every day.
Throughout more than four decades in the classroom, Shelley taught generations of Lincoln High families, guiding countless students toward the nation’s most prestigious universities and the highest levels of professional success. As the California Scholarship Federation advisor, Ms. Landucci bestowed thousands of gold stoles and smiles on students year after year at the Senior Awards Night.
To her colleagues, Shelley was the ultimate professional—the most respected peer whose profound expertise was matched only by her kindness. To her students, she was an institution. Her enduring impact on the Lincoln community is immeasurable, and she remains truly irreplaceable.
Shelley is survived by her loving father, Donald Landucci. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Jeanette Landucci (nee Borris), and her dear brother, Kevin.
Shelley will be greatly missed by her father, her devoted friends and fellow teachers, her tight-knit tennis community, the countless students she championed, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
