Steven Lee Petersen died from Kidney Cancer on February 23rd, 2019 in Stockton, California at the age of 56. Steven was born on March 28th, 1962 in San Francisco, California to Ivan and Mary Petersen. Steven lived in San Francisco, Modesto and settled in Stockton at the age of 3. He attended Stockton schools and was educated at both San Joaquin Delta College and Humphrey’s College. He had many interests, especially business computer repair, running a small business and becoming a chef.
Steven enjoyed collecting and listening to music. He enjoyed learning about wild animals and collected figurines and pictures of wildlife. He and his mom also enjoyed excursions to visit historical places and spending time at local casinos, especially Jackson Rancheria, “never gambling much,” according to his journals and his mom. He led a quiet life that he told his sister was a very good life and he had faith in God for all things.
Steven began a career at FoodMaxx in Stockton lasting over 20 years with the Savemart companies, working in the Stockton, Brentwood and Antioch grocery stores. Co-workers told his sister Karen that “Everybody loved Steven.”
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Petersen, brother, Allan Petersen and sister, Linda Petersen, all of whom he shared a home with during his lifetime.
Steven is survived by his mother, Mary Petersen and his sister Karen Johnson, brother-in-law David Johnson and their children: his nieces, Karissa Perez, Tami Selfridge and Joy Boone and nephew David Johnson Jr. and their respective spouses, David Perez, Steve Selfridge, Garret Boone and Carley Johnson. He is also survived by his grandnieces Kiley Selfridge, Zoey Boone, Abby Boone and Violet Perez and grandnephews Jack Selfridge, Samuel Perez and Zachary Selfridge and a step-grandnephew Matthew Selfridge who is in the U.S. Army.
Steven is also survived by co-workers and friends Tommy, Linda, Nikki, Nancy and others who supported him through his battle with the terrible cancer that took his life away.
Steven will be truly missed.
