Vicki Burgess passed away on July 21, 2024, at the age of 84 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. Born on April 1, 1940, in Stockton, CA, where she spent all of her life. She graduated from Stockton College High School in 1957. She worked for Western Radiator for many years before opening her own retail business, Jade Soccer Center. She outfitted many local soccer leagues, teams, and players in the latest soccer gear for 16 years. Her customers knew and loved her in the soccer community.
Vicki was an only child but was raised next to her two cousins, Linda and Renaye, who were often mistaken as her sisters. She enjoyed riding horses and participating in beauty pageants. Two that don’t seem to go together well but she mastered both beautifully. Those who knew her praised her for her kindness.
She enjoyed her family and could be found at every sporting or school event. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a love for food. Growing up in an Italian family meant every event was celebrated with food. She was known for making a wonderful focaccia and cioppino which was a favorite of everyone in the family.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Lyle Burgess; her ex-husband Don Iten; children Grant (Katina), Hilary (Bart); grandchildren Kaitlin, Carly, Thomas, Tyler, and Zachary; cousin Renaye. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Evelyn Barosso, Aunts Irene and Palmy, Uncles Steve, Angelo, Louie, and Albert, and cousin Linda Lambert.
Vicki was a strong person and fought all the way to the end. Dementia robbed her of living life to the fullest but she was well taken care of by her amazing care team. Our family would like to thank Theresa, Leilani, Dana, Imelda, and Irma for the love and devotion they gave to the care of our mother. She will be deeply missed but we know she is dancing in heaven surrounded by her family, friends, and dogs. Dance like nobody's watching, Mom. Until we meet again, we love you.
