Vivian Marie Gay, born Vivian Marie Tassano on October 3, 1937, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the age of 88.
Vivian lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, home, and the relationships she nurtured over decades. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence created a foundation of stability, care, and continuity for those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Marie Girardi (Richard Girardi), and her son, David Lynn Gai (Josefina Jauregui). She was a loving mother-in-law and held deep affection for her extended family.
Vivian was a proud grandmother to Matthew Girardi (Michelle Girardi), Amanda Nelson (Brian Nelson), and Gregory Girardi (Laura Girardi), as well as Mitchell Gai (Alyssa), Heather Engdahl (Cameron Engdahl), and Brittani Ewers (Cody Ewers).
She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Camila Gai, Tessa Gai, Charlotte Ewers, Nora Girardi, Maya Girardi, Brooklyn Nelson, Hailey Nelson, Zoey Nelson, and Andy Nelson.
Vivian’s life was marked by quiet strength, enduring love, and a deep connection to her family. She created a home filled with memories that will continue to shape and guide future generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Angelo Gay, and her parents, Criston A. Tassano and Elita Tassano (Hansen).
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services and a gathering to celebrate Vivian’s life will be held with family and friends.
On May 1, 2026, a Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., a Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church starting at 12:30 p.m. with a Committal to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
