Elizabeth Bette Blackwell

Elizabeth (Bette) Moore Blackwell, age 84, Tucker, Georgia passed away on January 17, 2012, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on January 30, 1927, in Bainbridge, Georgia, the daughter of Annie Eustene and Thomas Wade Moore, Sr. She resided and worked in Columbus, Georgia, and was married on July 10, 1948, to Sam Hoyte Blackwell, Jr. The family has lived in Atlanta since 1963, where she worked for and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In addition to her husband, Bette is survived by brother, Charles and Barbara Moore, Columbus, GA. Daughters Betty Warner, Buford, GA, and Janet and Bill Rocker, Johns Creek, GA. Grandchildren Tiffany and Jason Moore, Hoschton, GA, Mallory Warner, Atlanta, GA; Beth Rocker, Pretoria, South Africa; Andy and Anna Rocker, Atlanta, GA; great-granddaughter, Emily Moore, Hoschton, GA; step-grandchildren David Rocker, Atlanta, GA, Lyn and Steve Pharris, Columbus, GA; son-in-law, Lee Sechler of Reno, Nevada and numerous nieces and nephews. Bette was predeceased by brothers Thomas W. Moore, Jr., and George E. Moore. Visitation and funeral service will be at Horis A. Ward, Stone Mountain Chapel, Stone Mountain Georgia, Saturday, January 21, 2012. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, on January 21st at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial offerings to Alzheimer's research in memory of Elizabeth (Bette) Blackwell
