I still find myself lucky to have had Arran in my life, although I was only 16 he sure made me feel like I was the most special person. I will never forget the time he took me to Edmonton in his red sports car (I think it was a celica) we went to the nutcracker and la ronde the revolving restaurant.. he made sure every little detail was perfect. I was so lucky!  I could always be my 100% authentic self in his presence. To Arrans family and friends I am so sorry for your loss, he was an amazing person and had a wonderful impact on my life.

I took my standard poodle to Dr. Lamont last spring when my dog had ingested "something"...being very worried ...scared to lose my doggo, having lost my beloved son to suicide....He told me he'd do everything to help us ..and he did...
I have my dog.  It meant so much to me, not losing another beloved..
I was so fragile at the time...and I thanked him...was going to ask him to be our vet...then I found out...I'm so so sorry...

Arran was my first friend in Kindergarten and is my longest friendship. We have spent a lot of time in each others households over the years.  We found our way into all kinds of shenanigans, and he was there for the biggest moments in my life.  Arran you were my brother, thanks bud for all the memories!

There are so many memories from the studio and dance trips. A common theme of all of the stories is they all involved laughter until your stomach hurt! One that stands out was one summer at Alison and Gord’s at the wind up party we all decided to stay up super late and we were playing sardines or kick-the-can and Arran was the one hiding. We searched for him for HOURS. We finally gave up and it turned out he had climbed the house and was hiding on the ROOF!! Of course a memory that involved erupting into laughter. Arran made everyone around him feel accepted and his bright light will continue to shine on in those that he loved! 

Arran was a force of joy in the world.  Wherever he went, laughter ensued.  

It has been a number of years since I have crossed paths with Arran, but it was an honour to have known him as a student at Alison Lamont. I think about him and his family often.

I remember being lucky enough to find myself out at the Lamont residence for a year end dance wind up. It was an absolute riot.  

Someone had organized a game of sardines and Arran was the first to hide.  I recall being the first or second to find him.  All I can remember is having to stifle my laugher the whole time we were hiding, wondering how everyone else hadn't already sleuthed us out from us snickering at his jokes.

He was taken much too soon.  The kindest soul.

There we sat, Shane and I in our seats ready to watch a dance competition. Arran, with such ease and grace proceeded to entertain us with a remarkable tap solo…we were left speechless. He was for us what Fred Astaire was for the world. Arran shows up one day wearing a trendy pair of sweatpants, backwards hat, and a ponytail- we thought, this guy is just the coolest! The day was full of comical chit chat, story telling, and of course hysterical entertainment by Arran. Shane and I are forever lucky to have known such a vibrant, caring, and witty soul. Anyone blessed with Arran’s presence became a better person because of it.

To Aaron’s family, friends and colleagues our sincere condolences at  loss of such a special man.  Although we did not know Aaron personally, we were kept informed of his generous nature, love of animals and the help he provided to his Aunt Lynda whenever her dear “Puddy” was in need. He will be remember with love by all who knew him.  

My darling nephew Arran I remember when you were born, your Mom & Dad were so very proud.  Now you are in heaven with aunty Deb probably laughing & joking together.  I am so very proud of all your accomplishments.
Arran you helped me out so many times with my cat "Puddy" & just recently you took the time to call my vet in Toronto to discuss his diagnosis..I thought that was beyond the call of duty but that was our Arran so giving of himself.  You are in my thoughts every day.  My prayers go out to your Mom, Dad, Joel & Paige, Billie & Ceilidh.
Arran you are loved by many many people, we were all so very lucky to have had you for those short 38 yrs.  You always disliked my big red kisses on your cheeks when ever I saw you.  I am sending you one last big red kiss.  Look after all the animals in heaven as I know you will.

This photo perfectly captures Arran's ability to have his photo taken. Never shy, clearly a natural, and conveniently camera ready. He always had so much more prepared for the average photo taking moment, and lucky for us we get to laugh because of it!

People Should Smile More-Newton Faulkner. 
This was one of the many songs Arran shared with me. He loved good music, and enjoyed sharing songs - especially to those who can appreciate a real good diddy. I've never known anyone else to have such a wide range of music, he'd have something from classical to rap and everything else in between. For a guy who never took himself so seriously, definitely made an imprint on this world for the better.

Its clear to me that Arran did change the world, and he certainly brought many smiles to many faces. The are so many memories, stories, and laughs that come to mind when I think of Arran. When I play this song those special times hit me again and I can't help but smile more. I know that's all he ever wanted, so I'll crank it up!

Aaran was the first graduate student I had the opportunity to mentor. He was a joy to work with. He was an extremely creative student, a great problem solver, he questioned everything, and he constantly challenged me. Aaran had a great sense of humor and always brightened my day. I loved our deep but often humorous conversations about global and local problems, both scientific and non-scientific. Even though he was my student, I am certain I learned as much from him as he did from me. 

Aaran was a very compassionate and caring person. I have been plagued with chronic back pain most of my life, which would often make me hobble around the office. Aaran was not happy seeing me in pain and felt he had to do something about it. He introduced me to Gordon who also has chronic back pain. Gordon very kindly gave me a “turkey perch” that he developed to help people reduce their back pain while working at a desk job. It helped me manage my backpain and I used it until I left Alberta Agriculture. Thank you both!  

Most importantly, Aaran became a good friend and he remained a good friend long after we were no longer student and teacher. He lodged himself deeply in my heart where he will always hold a special place. I will miss you greatly my friend. 

My deepest sympathy goes out to Gordon, Alison, and all of Aaran’s family and friends. 


Such a nice person above all. I did have the pleasure to work with Arran for a short, albeit wonderful time. I will forever remember his kindness and the fun times I’ve spent during stressful shifts listening to him saying “funny” Brazilian slangs… Rest In Peace Arran! You will be greatly missed! 

There are so many great memories I don’t know where to begin. Thanks for being an amazing brother-in-law and funky uncle to Billie and the best colleague we could ask for. We’ll miss you every day!   

Arran will always have a very special place in my heart, he was the first boy I ever had a crush on (I suspect that growing up in a ballet studio he was the first boy many girls had a crush on). When I was 12, I bought a New York Yankees hat cause he had one. I still wear a Yankees hat - and when I put it on, I often think of him. As we grew up, I grew out of my crush and into friendship. Arran was wonderful, warm, caring, and funny. Although we lost touch, I was so pleased to hear he realized his dreams of becoming a vet. Not only was Arran wonderful, but so was his amazing family. Miss Alison, Mr. Lamont, Ceilidh, and Joel, my heart is with you as you grieve this immeasurable loss. Arran will be remembered warmly by the Dyson-Gregoire family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to his family. 
I was Arran's pathology professor at WCVM and at the end of my course, a few students received unofficial awards. Arran received an award for THE BEST PERSONALITY. 
I will cherish many nice memories about Arran, an exceptional human being with a great character and outstanding attitude.

I used to work with Arron when he was at Victoria Veterinary Clinic. He was funny and caring and great to bug!! He always questioned my ear cytologies and if i was sure there was no yeast. I always told him no but to have a look for himself. He would glance through the microscope, and say "there's one" , so i would look and tell him " nope, that's just debris". One day I thought it would be hilarious if I plastered his work station with pictures of microscopic yeast  so I did.  I included little notes stating stating "here's yeast" and "there's a yeast".......I think he thought it was amusing. 

Alison & family. We are deeply saddened to hear of your loss. May you always cherish the fond memories of Arran you hold in your hearts.  Hugs to all!

It’s a sad day when one’s time on earth is cut so short. So many things to do, places to see, and  a young career with so much yet to explore…Your time on earth, Aaron  is complete and you are on to your next adventure without the physical presence of your family and peers to experience and enjoy it with you. Alas that is what makes it so hard. My prayers go out to those left to mourn. I pray for peace and strength of the broken hearts that are left to  miss you. 😢💔

I was lucky enough to work with Arran when I first moved to Edmonton. He was totally eccentric and cultured = an unforgettable human being.  He was caring, brave (except around big scary dogs hehe) and especially honest when it came to the things he loved: music, cannabis and over all creative thinking / dreaming processes. I can see how Arran was ahead of our times. Safe travels Arran.

This is so heartbreaking to hear. 
Because of Arran, I was able to be myself. Never have I met a soul so true to themselves and so accepting of everyone he met. I’m so honoured he shared a part of his life with me. 
The world won’t be as bright without him

I taught Arran in a couple of courses at UofA, and he also helped me on some projects. I remember him as an eager student, with a happy, friendly manner and a great sense of humour. I knew he'd make a great vet and was delighted when he got into vet school.  I  was pleased to hear he had moved back to the Edmonton area recently. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Allison I am so sad to hear this news of your dear sons Arrons passing. I think of you and your family often with such fond childhood memories of our hours spent together with Mrs Sitter! It has been many years since we have seen each other. The last time we visited was at the pool. Your kids were little. Home to spend time with your dear Mom and swim ! My heart is so sad for your family. I am praying for your needs to be met in these days to come. Praying for your peace and comfort through sweet memories and people in your life who love you all and who loved Arron. Much love to you Ian Edie and your family😘

Renee Skeoch 

Another memory I have that represents Arran well was actually my last memory of him. He invited me to the Oilers playoff game. We sat in the 4th row of game 2 against LA. The Oilers won 6-0 and the place was going nuts! Arran was cheering and saying funny stuff all game, but never swore and always kept his comments PG. At the end of the game, a guy was banging on the glass and an elderly security guard came up to tell him to stop. The guy got really mad at the security guard. Arran stood up for the elderly man and after the game was over, he went to check on him and make sure he was OK. I tagged along. The security guard said "you're a good man, I appreciate you". Sums up his life pretty well, if you ask me.

Arran always made a strong effort to stay close with Jennifer and I. He flew in from Regina one summer and spent a long weekend with us. We ate good food, drank good beer, and swapped stories of our careers. It was just like we were together at the back of room 2105 at the vet college.

Arran was of course a goofball, maybe the funniest person I ever met. He could be very sincere, too. I remember when he, and Jake, and I were groomsmen at Chris and Chantale's wedding in 2013. Us guys did a hilarious photo shoot, where we were each asked to "do something cool". The 3 of us kind of dropped the ball, but Arran dropped down on a knew to send a "quantum pulse" through to the core of the earth. Quantum Pulse became one of his many Nicknames. Later that day  he made a heartfelt speech to toast Chantale on her wedding day. The speech was impromptu, but so genuine, and there were more than a couple tears.

I have too many memories to share. It's overwhelming to think about, honestly. On our last day of vet school, Arran and I were at the class party. We had a blast, even through our pants in the fire to cap off our 4 years of study. At the end of the night, we sat by the front door crying our eyes out, we were so sad to see everyone go their separate ways. He was a very open and sentimental guy. His reaction in that moment was totally real. Fortunately, we stayed very close after school.
