Barry is remembered by his loving children, Shannon and Dean; his three grandchildren, Kateland, Jorgia, and Wyatt; his great-grandchild, Grace; as well as his brother, Rodney.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Lillian and his grandparents, Joseph and Ticana (Gido and Baba).
Over the past 5 years, Barry has resided in the care of The Good Samaritan Stony Plain Care Centre. The nurses have expressed how they are going to miss Barry (to some affectionately known as “Gido”), their lessons in Ukrainian lingo, and of course his warm smile. Barry had a good sense of humor. He loved cruising the backroads and mountains, enjoyed a game of cards, reading cowboy western novels, bonfires, swimming, dancing, music, and playing the guitar and drums (hello Ventures!)
Barry will be fondly remembered for his fun, easy going and friendly demeanor.
With confidence we will hold on to the hope of a spectacular future as God’s word says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” (Acts 24:15) With eyes of faith we will look forward to seeing Barry again at a time when he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. (Revelation 21:4)
Thank you so very much to the nurses and staff that treated him like a friend, with dignity and kindness. To those who did the extra “little things” like play the music he enjoyed off their own personal devices; thank you! To all of you who performed above and beyond for Barry; thank you!
To all in the family who had a part in assisting Barry with his troubles and struggles over the years; thank you. He most definitely was loved. Please, do share any pictures, stories, and memories on this site so we may remember with the life of Barry!
