Craig is survived by his children, Reesa (Matthew) and Andrew (Hannah); his grandchildren, Ayden and Avery; and his beloved dog, Kato. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Beattie, and is also remembered with love by his former wife, Yvonne, who held a special place in his life.
Craig worked at TransAlta for 33 years, where he made many lifelong friends and held a variety of roles, from power plant operator to plant manager.
After retiring, Craig devoted a significant amount of his time to volunteering. He gave generously to the Parkland Food Bank, Victim Services, and the Edmonton Blues Society.
He had a deep love of music and frequently attended live performances. He also enjoyed working on his vintage cars, travelling, and spending time with those he loved.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at the WestView Health Centre and Pilgrims Hospice for their compassionate care and attention.
A celebration of life will be held at the Heritage Pavilion in Stony Plain on May 23, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the CT Scanner Project at the WestView Health Centre. During his final weeks, Craig spent a great deal of time there, and as a family, we saw firsthand the discomfort and difficulty he experienced being transported to another hospital for a CT scan. It was important to Craig—and to all of us—that others might be spared this experience. We hope that, in this way, part of his legacy will help bring this important service closer to home for future patients.
