It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Douglas John Barnes of Spruce Grove Alberta. Doug passed away peacefully with his wife, and love of his life, Lynne by his side on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Westview Health Long Term Care Centre. He was born in Castor Alberta on September 27, 1941.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie Lynne Barnes; along with 2 children, Stuart (Julie) Barnes of Richland Washington, and Carolyn (Réal) Magnan of Stony Plain Alberta; 4 grandchildren, Riley (Alex), Breanna (Cole), Jack, and Kaitlyn as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian Barnes as well as his brother Donald Barnes.
“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be; so he put his arms around you, and whispered, “Come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.” ˗ Jimmie Arnold
A special thank you to the people at Westview Long Term Health Centre for their loving care and support during his final days. The family would also like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Parkland Funeral Services for being accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Light Up Your Life Society: 4405 South Park Drive, Stony Plain Alberta T7Z 2M7, in memory of Doug Barnes.
