our thoughts & prayers are with the family of Irela at this time of sorrow...she & my mom were great friends, she will be missed.

When my husband and I were brand new believers in Christ Irela and Ron mentored us . SHe was such a lovely caring woman.

After my husband died, Irela began to phone me occasionally, and in her caring manner asked how I was doing.  I could tell she really listened and cared by the way she asked questions based on past conversations. She really wanted to know so that she could pray more effectively, and often expressed care through prayer.  After Irela's husband Ron died, I also sought to connect with her in a similar manner.  

Later on, I felt heart-broken at hearing of her ALS diagnosis, and how this impacted her life (no voice, feeding tube, walking with a walker), yet in her email she says:  "To say the least it's an ugly disease , it robs a person of their body one piece at a time.  On the brighter side I'm well on my way to Heaven where I shall have a new body and be in the presence of my Savior forever . The Lord has been very close , he has shown me how to live and he's helping me to die. I'm content  I'm warm and have food and clothing sufficient, much to be thankful for.  My times are in His hands so I shall not fear. My children have been very supportive and a tremendous help."  

Then she goes on to inquire about my family and my business!  I was amazed at her capacity to think beyond her own needs, and I have tears in my eyes as I write this, for I shall truly miss her.
