He is survived by his wife Susan Mae Hamer; his son Shawn Hamer; their daughters Pamela-Mae Webber and Mary-Anne Webber; grandchildren Justine Weitering, James Conklin, Madison Conklin and Cassie Webber-Young; his sister Elaine (Ted) Fredrickson; brothers Bernard Hamer, Robert (Carol) Hamer and Alfred (Cindy) Hamer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Oran Keith and Evelyn Florence (Primeau) Hamer; his sister Sharon (Clark) Hamer and his brother Gary Hamer.
Jamey grew up in Westlock, AB and moved to Hinton, AB in 1974 to be with his brothers, where he worked as a baker until joining Cardinal River Coal Mine. In 2001, Jamey took a volunteer layoff and moved to the Crowsnest Pass to work for Line Creek Mine. In 2003, Jamey and Susan moved to Fort McMurray, AB were he continued to work as a heavy duty mechanic at Suncor. Jamey had an old school work ethic but still enjoyed pulling pranks on his fellow co-workers or supervisors.
Jamey and Susan eloped to Las Vegas, NV in 1994 and were married at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino as King and Queen.
Jamey enjoyed all things outdoors, from boating and fishing to hunting and camping, and many beers by the campfire. His favourite hobby was being a pilot. In 1993 Jamey and Lawrence Carr purchased their first Cessna 172 CF-LRT. Many hours were spent in the air with his close friend Glen Davies or other buddies from the Hinton Flying Club. With the help of his wife, Jamey took on many positions at the Hinton Flying Club and they were still members even after they moved.
There will be a small celebration of life on August 4, 2019 at Westview Village Community Hall from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (5241 Calgary Trail NW #144, Edmonton, AB T6H 5G8).
