Worked with Larry at Safeway. He was an amazing guy, shook my hand first day and welcomed me, was always open and a happy guy.

Larry took me under his wing when I started at Safeway,shared many laughs and have fond memories,wouldn't have made it there without him. Thank you Larry!

It is Mar 14 Just heard the sad news yesterday. Wish I could have been there for you. I have a unique respect for this Man. Back in Oct 1989 I cut my arm quite serious, and with Larry's first aid training, he bandaged me up and sent me away in an ambulance. The doctor asked me who bandaged me up? Then told me "When you go back, you thank him, he probably saved your life". I will always remember you Larry, it is because of you I am still here to say this.

The world will never be the same without Larry and he will truly be missed.Larry brought a smile everyday to everyone he worked with.  He was always open and honest with his comments good or bad.What you could always expect from Larry was a honest opinion and also his side to what ever the situation was.I was Larry's supervisor, friend and co worker and it was his conversations that made every day a better place to be. He talked about family values an in each comment it was obvious that the greatest gift was his family  I will never forget Larry, our conversations and all that he brought everyday to Safeway and his co workers. Larry was a good man. Great guy to work with. Always kept high spirits and always knew how to keep everyone laughing. I especially commend Larry for treating me with respect and dignity as a fellow human being and was always honest and never judged anyone. How can you say good-bye to a brother? I grew up with Larry,we were in kindergarden together,grade 1 together.We played minor hockey together,as teens we hung out together.I was honered to be a groomsmen at Larry and Cathys wedding.we played first division senior hockey together,watched each others children grow,our sons our best of freinds and so on,a life time of memories between the best of   friends.Words cannot describe the loss.Larry I will allways remember your humour,your honesty,your boistrous laugh and your loyalty as a friend.I know I will tell stories of times together till I die,in the 48 years Ive known you we never had a bad time together.I know i will spend the rest of my life wishing the phone would ring and I would hear the words EH,BUTTLY.....

My deepest condolences and sympathies on Larry's sudden passing. I first met Larry in June of 1995 when I first walked in to the Edmonton Safeway Grocery Warehouse.  Larry was one of the first to greet me and introduce himself, since that time he was one of my favorites and I would always search for him for a much needed laugh.  Larry was an honest, dedicated and committed Safeway employee and was one of the integral pieces that made up the backbone of our Company.
Larry and I exchanged banter almost each and every time we would meet, when the discussion was about work he was professional and honest, he cared very deeply about his co-workers but also was very respectful to his management team.  When conversations were not about it work it was some of the most hilarious conversations you could imagine. These conversations I will miss dearly. Larry had the ability to build a relationship with everyone; he took the time to give just a little piece of himself to his co-workers each and every day. Larry was always one to throw in his jovial 2 cents at anyone and everyone and was one of the outstanding characters of our Safeway Warehouse, not only did Larry throw in his 2 cents, he seemed to have the craziest but fitting NICK NAMES for everyone, mine was BIG DADDY. Larry would also break out into a song at work, the melody we could understand but the lyrics tended to be altered for a humorous response. Larry's demeanor and character was infectious, it was appreciated by all and his sudden passing has us searching for a healing replacement. Unfortunately, Larry was a special one-time only model that could never be replaced.
When we heard the news of Larry's passing last Thursday it was a very emotional day for all of his co-workers.  Almost everyone I spoke with made the comment “I just spoke with Larry yesterday” and again for me identified how Larry gave a little piece of himself to everyone daily. One visual I will always have is Larry reading his newspaper sitting on the base of a power-jack each and every morning engaged in humorous banter with his co-workers.  Larry was LOVED by his co-workers and his SAFEWAY family misses him deeply. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Larry's wife Kathy and all of the family.

I will miss you as a friend and as a co worker. A person so many people went too for a laugh, or a word or two of wisdom. Rest in peace Larry D. Levitt.
