Megan is survived by her husband of 8 years and best friend of 18 years, Jaime; children, Charlie and William; parents, Greg and Charlotte (Miller); sisters, Amber (Ken) and Kristy (Ron); nieces and nephews; Katlynn, Kaylee, Gavin, Ryan, and Marley; grandma, Dorothy; parents-in-law, Terry and Donna; brother-in-law, Ian (Melanie) and sister-in-law Alyson.
Megan was predeceased by her niece, Emmersyn.
Megan had a passion for learning and teaching others, graduating from the University of Alberta with a teaching degree, and later from the University of Western Ontario with a master’s degree. She worked as a teacher and a tutor, and then turned her focus to having a family. The love she had for her kids was unmatched; she enjoyed spending time going on adventures and teaching them about the world and nature. But seriously? How does a boat float?
Megan was known for her infectious and sometimes explosive laughter, which would fill the room, and surprise people who just did not know she had it in her. Other passions included music, reading, travel, going to the lake and spending time with friends. Her sense for adventure and fun led her to have many nicknames, Meg, Meggy, Meggers, Mega-hair, and Driftwood to just name a few.
Megan had intense compassion for the world and the people around her, and always wanted to give back to people in need. Through all the medical treatments Megan remained strong beyond measure, defiant in the face of her prognosis.
A celebration of Megan’s life will be held at a future date once gathering restrictions are lifted.
Memorial donations may be made to the people in your community in need, the food bank or the trust fund for the children at ATB financial.
There are no words to express how thankful we are to all the people who donated so much towards Megan’s long fight with cancer.
