Muriel Doris Lavin passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at her home in Ross Haven, Alberta. The family finds comfort in knowing that our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend has been welcomed into the arms of Her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May she rest in peace always.
Mu was a tireless member of the Catholic community, serving with the Catholic Women’s League in a variety of roles throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered for her vitality and energy, for the vibrance of her style, the sound of her laugh and singing in the community choir. Her sense of community, spirit for volunteering, ability to get things done, and her heart for serving others shone the light of God’s love to whatever she turned her mind too.
Mu loved her home in Ross Haven; the beauty of the lake in the mornings, the English garden she created, and a home where family and friends were always welcome are hallmarks of her life on Lac Ste Anne. Mu could always be found in the kitchen cooking and baking, or sitting on the patio with a cup of tea admiring the view of the lake.
Mu was predeceased by her mother Gladys Pitwell and survived by her Husband Patrick Lavin, Sister Julie Halsey (David) and brothers Alan Wilkinson (Sue) and Andrew Wilkinson (Karen) as well as children Patrick Lavin Jr, Chris Lavin (Lisa) and Sarah Pavlik (Ian) and her grandchildren Colton, Emma, Connor, Alex, Nicole, Stella, and Sophie.
A Visitation for Muriel will be held for community members on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Parkland Funeral Services, 3502 44th Ave, Stony Plain, AB T7Z1L1.
A Funeral Mass with interment to follow will occur Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5201 Lac St Anne Trail S, Onoway, AB T0E 1V0.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be provided to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.
