Another year has passed.  Although I haven't visited here often dear sister, you are always in my thoughts.   I am very grateful that I can write to you here.    Our piano player Ray Lawrence passed away in 2022 and we (Darryl, Terry and I) didn't know until March of 2024.   Another of my friends passed away this year and I am sure you would remember Greg Burgess.  I do not know what happened but I am thinking it was a heart attack. 
Cali has had to have surgery one that requires at least 17 weeks recovery.  It has been slow going but we have started walking at the park again.    I am doing well enough and this years birthday was quiet.    Miss you very much .   Love C

I have witnessed some very lovely sunrises at the park Cali and I walk at every morning.  This was taken when it was much cooler, this year it is very hot temps reach 105 and up during the day.  It is August 8th the day we said good by and as you know my wedding aniversery. This year would have been #43.   
I think of you often, today is a day of remembering each of you for

Well it has been awhile dear sister.  
Yesterday was a day of remembrance.   Of you and of John as it was our anniversary.   
This is Cali and I sitting out on the patio.  She thinks she is a lap dog!  She has helped me through a great deal, I'd be lost without her. We walk every morning at a local park where, I have met some great people. Each has experienced a loss of some sort.  They have turned out to be wonderful friends.

Well, feeling just a little nostalgic today. Oddly it doesn't happen often but I suppose there was as you would say a trigger. I guess memories creep up on one....  I miss the long nights when after a fabulous meal (they always were) we all would sit, candles a light in the warm Alberta evening out on your back deck. You and Steve being the people you were. Open and welcoming. Haven't experienced that in a very long time.  Miss you both so very much right now. C

Well it has been awhile!Even though I talk to you almost everyday.  Just wanted to put it in words this time.... I know you remember Brenda (nee Hummel)  Well it is her birthday on the 5th. Her funeral was on the 13th of this month. wow I sure miss you all.... C

This is a little late but I haven't seen Nadine and Steve for about 25 yrs. We used to be great friends, then I divorced and  moved away. Nadine was a great person caring and funny as all her family and friends of course, know. I just thought about Nadine and Steve for some reason today and unfortunately came across this news. Well, yesterday was the day I became apart of the Bastian family. It was a day you rarely forgot There were probably many times you wished you weren't saddled with a litte sister who wanted to tag a long all the time. You couldn't even get away from me on your first wedding day, I thought I was going with you! :o) 
It is almost a year now, our families have come thru much sadness but there has also been a sprinkling of joy. 
I am remembering those days last year when we would talk about what was happening to you, wishing it wasn't happening that it was some misstake, you were strong and wouldn't let this happen. 
It did, and I was in shock. Sometimes, I still think you are where you always were, with a cup of coffee and a smoke. I hope there is peace. Fairwell dear sister.

Hello mom, you are on my mind a lot lately!! I can't believe it has almost been a year that you left us. There is so much that has happened in this year!! We have now moved to Devon.  We have realized that time is precious with family. I have seen signs of you around me.  There are two or three crows that visit me everyday!! I planted a little garden (a little late but oh well!) It is growing!!

Happy Birthday dear!  This would have been the 36th birthday that we would have shared together ... a card, some flowers and either my bad cooking or a dinner out.  Time stood still in August and although we will all move on, the memories will stay forever.

Well, we have another move under our belts, we are closer to Nicholas and Beth.  Had a few scary moments on the way. One of the tires on the trailer blew. I was far enough behind in the car that no real damage was done to it or me. The tire just disintegrated we lost the wheel some wiring and a crack in the fender. Fixable. :) Miss you Love C

Morning Dean 
Another Christmas has gone by it will be the new year soon.  One of my fondest memories is one where you and I drove to Eatonia to spend Christmas with mom and dad.  It was one of the first Christmas's after I'd gotten to Edmonton. You and I stood at Mom's little sink doing the dishes and singing Winter Wonderland together, it has always been one of my favorites and a memory I have always cherished.

Merry Christmas, my dear Nadine; our first apart in 36 years.  I went out and visited the neighbors last night as we had done so many times since we moved out here.  Everybody talked about you and how they miss you.

I've written a eulogy for Dad.  It was hard to do.  I didn't have my "editor" to help me.  I miss you so much.  I know you'll be there when I have to speak and I know you dreaded the prospect of losing another father.  Help me to be strong...

Good morning my dear!  Last night, around 8:30 pm Jon, Mum and I were called to the hospital as Dad was doing poorly.  We sat with him until 2:06 am when he passed away.

After your father passed away, you adopted Dad as your father and he took you in as his daughter.  You two had a special bond and friendship that I will always remember. 

Share a scotch together as I remember you two doing so often!

My Dear Nadine

We celebrated 35 Remembrance Days together but I recall the first so vividly.  We had just met and were getting to know each other.  That first November 11th, we talked about our families and how so many had served.  My uncles, your uncles and aunts, our parents friends and so many others we knew had stories behind their names.  One of the interesting points was that neither of us had lost a close relative in action.  I guess our families were survivors!  They did, however, bring back a legacy of stories and tales of their times in Europe and the East.  They served and fought for the freedoms that many now take for granted.  Tomorrow, I'll be thinking of those brave people, and praying for the many others who fought to provide us with the life we enjoyed.

Hi dear

Halloween night and the candy is gone.  Dudley and Kristina teamed up with Mike, and Darcy and Alana and around 7 pm 3 quads and two trailers showed up with 9 kids!  For the last number of years we've only had a couple of kids here but tonight it was special.  I thought of you and how you would go out on the deck and give out candy to the few that showed up.  You would have loved it tonight!!

Not a day goes by when I don't think of you but there are some that make it harder to be alone.

Dear Mom:  Steve has informed me that he has made this web site a life long web site!! So if this is the only way to talk to you, here goes. It has been a long month without you, I miss our long talks sooooo much.  A peice of me is missing! August 26, 2012 would have marked our 34th wedding anniversary.  I'll be up on the hill with a bottle of champagne, recalling memories and telling stories as we did so many times before.  You'll be with me, my dear, as you will be forever.
