1957 – 2021
It is with deep sadness and gentle relief, the family of Norman David St. Laurent announce his passing on
Friday, July 16, 2021, (one week before his 64th birthday).
He was dearly loved and will be missed by his mother, Lorraine, brothers: Denis (Connie), Remi (Joanne),
sisters: Louise (Garry) Morgan, Deb (Mike) Cherkas, cousins (aka “sisters”): Anne Franzmann, Kathy
(Ernie) Marchildon, Ollie (Andre) Berube, Denise (Keith) Schambers, Marie (Ken) St. Laurent/ Flewell.
He leaves behind his son David (Ian); his loving Godmother, Aunt Claudette (Andre) Meunier , as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father A.G. (Buster) St Laurent, his Grandparents: Joe and Merie St. Laurent
and Art and Marguerite Soetaert.
He will be remembered as a witty, fun-loving, kind hearted, hard-working and family-oriented man.
He loved the outdoors: exploring (always had to see what was over the next hill), horse-back riding,
camping, hunting and fishing. He was competitive -loved to play games: whether it was cribbage,
backgammon, board games or marbles, lawn darts, bocce, or ladder golf. He especially enjoyed family
gatherings, particularly when the gatherings included parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles
and young family members, and if there was music, he loved to sing and dance.
During his working years he was a Jack of all Trades including: working with bees, carpentry and
surveying.
For the last 16 years Norman lived with his mother and struggled with severe health problems. He found
pleasure in small wood-working projects, baking (mostly cakes and cookies), gardening (especially
growing tomatoes), canning and pickling - all of which he took great joy in giving away to family and
friends. He especially enjoyed time spent with his nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Villeneuve Seniors Club where he enjoyed floor curling and helping out, especially
in the kitchen.
Norman’s cremains will be laid to rest with his father. An Interment service will take place on Friday
August 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery (St. Albert Trail) followed by a luncheon and a
celebration of his life at his mother’s residence in Stony Plain.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory may do so to a charity of their choice, or to a
“Memorial Grave Marker Fund” being set up by the family.
Eternal Rest grant unto him. O Lord,
And let Perpetual Light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen
