Born in England, Robert joined the Royal Marines during World War II. When the war ended he married and began his family before emigrating to Canada. Here he joined the Canadian Army RCEME as a weapons technician moving across Canada and two tours of duty in Germany for NATO. While attached to the Lord Strathcona Calvary he found time to lead two troops of Boy Scouts. Robert retired as Master Corporal and moved west.
He was an avid graphic artist and wood carver. Many of his creations reside with family and friends. He loved classical music, making origami birds, boats and hats for his grandchildren and doing magic tricks with string, excellent at tying knots.
Robert was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Edith Elizabeth.
His wealth was his family who will miss him greatly; his children: Angela (Dave), Marion (Bob), Andrew (Heather), Thomas and Bob (Elizabeth; his grandchildren: Nina (Dan), Tina (Eric), Bonnie, Richard, Robin, Amanda (Brian), Kristina (Dennis), Samantha and Liam; his great-grandchildren: Sarah, Rachel, Bryce, Brayden, Taylor, Alyssa, Colson, Winnie, Harper, Nathaniel, Adalise and his many nieces and nephews in England, Ontario and Alberta.
