Viola Valerie Kaiser, age 1, passed away on December 29th, 2023, after a short but fierce fight with Sandhoff disease (a horrendous degenerative neurological disease). Viola's soul left her tortured body at 7:40 pm. Wrapped in the loving embrace of her mother and father, our sweet little angel breathed her last breath and we said our final goodbyes.
Viola was born on January 14th, 2022 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta on a particularly frigid and snowy January morning. Viola was born into this world not alone, but with a twin sibling. A twin brother, Roderick James. From this point forward they would be inseparable. We felt so very blessed, we had everything we could ever ask for.
When the twins were eight months of age we received the most devastating news a parent could ever imagine...Viola is terminal. She has this rare genetic disease that will eventually take her life. The preceding twelves months were full of hard choices, doctors appointments, hospitalizations, experimental treatments, late nights and enough tears for a lifetime.
Viola is survived by four brothers: Roderick Kaiser, Stewart Clark, Jacob Clark, and Max Clark as well as by her mother and father, Heather and Jason Kaiser.
A Celebration of Life will be held for baby Viola at the Spruce Grove Hall at the Heritage Park Pavilion, 5100 - 41 Avenue Stony Plain, AB on January 14, 2024 at 2 PM
A special thanks to everyone at the Stollery Children's Hospital, Dr. Currie and our home care workers as well as all the hundreds of folks that contributed to helping our beautiful baby girl. You made a difference.
We will always love you little "Ducky". You were the miracle we were praying for all along.
