Loving husband, father, and grandfather Anthony J. Ricci of Stony Point passed away on March 3, 2018. He was born to Joseph and Carmela Ricci in 1926 in Manhattan and grew up in the Bronx where he attended Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades before joining the Navy in 1944. As a crewman aboard the USS Raymond (DE-341), Anthony was in the one of the most famous battles in naval history, the Battle off Samar in the Philippines, for which he received the Presidential Unit Citation. After the war, he returned to the Bronx to drive a taxi for his uncle, Angelo D’Angiolillo, and worked in the electronics and telephone industries. Then, in 1958, he married the two great loves of his life—Camille, who was his wife of 49 years, and the FDNY. Together, he and Camille had four children, six grandchildren, 11 dogs, and one maladjusted parrot who divebombed guests. Anthony lost his beloved Camille in 2007 and spent the years since with one eye firmly fixed toward heaven. He is survived by sons Mark (Lisa) of Waterford NY, Steve (Laurie) of Oakland NJ, and Ray (Joanne) of Stony Point, and daughter Marisa (Matt) of Red Hook NY, and grandchildren Raymond, Michael, Kristopher, Nicklas, Joseph, and Mason.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
