Gloria Virginia McElroy

Gloria Virginia McElroy passed away on January 29, 2011 with her family by her side. Gloria was born on March 5, 1932 to Edward and Geneva (Lewis) Rose. She married the love of her life, George McElroy, on June 30, 1951. She was a homemaker and the matriarch of the family. She belonged to St. John's the Divine Church. Family was her life; she was a complete caretaker and a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Gloria was a lifelong resident of Stony Point. She loved walking but her most joyous times came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gloria is survived by her sons George, Edward and his wife Karen, Kenneth and his wife Joann, Richard, and William and his wife Kim; daughters Loma (Paul) Yehl, Gloria (James) Christoff; grandchildren Christine, Lisa, Jason, George III, Charlene, Amanda, Ricky, Mackenzie, Karlee, and Kaycee; and great grandchildren Vincent, Zachary, and Christian. Gloria was predeceased by her husband, George, on October 20, 1992; her four brothers and two sisters. Viewing will be held on Monday January 31 from 3-9PM at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point. Religious services will be held on Tuesday February 1 at 11AM at St. Johns the Divine Church on Mott Farm Road, Tomkins Cove, NY.
