Philip was born in Bronx, NY in 1943 to James and Margaret, one of seven siblings. He attended Cardinal Hayes high school before enlisting in the army in 1962, serving with distinction in the Signal Corps and eventually obtaining the rank of sergeant. After his discharge in 1965 he worked at New York Telephone all the way through to Verizon where he was a valued employee for over 32 years, starting out as a splicer, then rising to foreman and then retiring as a Outside Plant Engineer. Along the way he attended classes in evenings and on weekends first to obtain his bachelor's degree at Saint Thomas Aquinas and then eventually his master's in business administration at Long Island University.
He is preceded by his loving wife and friend of 38 years Margaret Mary Reay and is survived by his two sons and daughter, Philip, Michael and Tara-Ann.
A service to celebrate and remember his life will be held at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral home at 73 N Liberty Dr, Stony Point, NY 10980 on Monday, October 2nd from 1 until 5PM followed by funeral ceremonies the following day at 12PM in the chapel at Ascension Cemetery 650 Saddle River Rd, Airmont, NY 10952.
In lieu of flowers, Philip would be honored if you would donate to a charity in his name.
Some suggestions would be ASPCA or Wounded Warrior.
