Quentin W Mariano

Stony Point, NY. Quentin W. Mariano passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was 75. He leaves behind his son, Quentin A. Mariano, daughter-in-law, Evelyn, sister Marjorie Palmeri and her husband Sal, brother Charles; 2 grandchildren, Quentin John and Sofia; along with nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Amalia and his brother Michael.

He was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Stony Point, NY, the son of Quentin C. and Dorothy Mariano, and was a lifelong resident of Stony Point.

Quentin served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Independence. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Amalia Siano.

Quentin started his law enforcement career in the Stony Point Police Department and was one of the original members. He went on and became the Police Chief of the South Nyack/Grandview Police Department. After serving there he worked for the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department’s Correctional Division for many years. Quentin was very proud of his public service and truly valued the friendships he made throughout his career.

Quentin enjoyed classic cars, music, and was an avid viewer of the History Channel. He was also a volunteer firefighter at Cosgriff Hose Company in the Haverstraw Fire Department. But above all else Quentin loved and treasured his family and friends. He always had a cup of coffee and time to tell stories for all who came by. Time spent with his grandchildren were the highlights of his days whether it was time driving Quentin John to hockey or paintball as well as spending time with Sofia and hanging her artwork around his room, he loved it all. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home on Monday, September 25th and Tuesday, September 26th from 2-4pm or 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at Higgins on Wednesday, September 27th at 11am followed by interment at Mount Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stony Point Ambulance Corps, 47 South Liberty Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980.
