Richard Kwiecinski, age 97 of Stony Point, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. He was born in West Haverstraw, N.Y. to the late George and Stella Kwiecinski. Richard joined the Army on April 25th 1946 and proudly served as a PFC during WWII. During that time, he traveled from Hawaii, to the Philippines, Japan, and all across the Pacific. He met the love of his life, Gloria (Van Houten) at a fair where he bought her a hot dog, and the rest was history. They were married on May 10th 1953 and celebrated 40 years of marriage before her passing on May 18 th 1993. Richard was a plumber by trade, having worked and retired form Lederle Laboratories. He loved fishing, watching westerns, eating fruits and vegetables straight from his own backyard, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard will always be remembered for his quick wit and tell it like it is attitude. He was an unbelievably caring and loving man. We could not have asked for a better brother, husband, father, grandfather, or great grandfather, and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Richard is predeceased by his wife Gloria and his daughter Diane (Pittman).
He is survived by his loving sons Richie (Alice), Frank and William, his granddaughters Meghan (Kyle) Toolen and Shannon (Todd) Countryman. As well as his great grandchildren Amber, Brynn, and Derek Countryman.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Honorflight.org in his name would be greatly appreciated.
