

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Alfredo moved to New York City when he was 20 years old. After living in New Bedford, Massachusetts Alfredo relocated to Florida 24 years ago and has been a resident of Port St. Lucie for 12 years.
Alfredo owned and operated laundromats and worked as a machinist for a factory. In 1971 he found his true calling and became an ordained minister. He shared his wisdom at The Church of God and was proud to be a chaplain for the prison system. Alfredo had an inquisitive mind and loved to learn. He taught his family to love god and have faith while living his life the way he preached. In his spare time, Alfredo enjoyed Dominoes.
Alfredo was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Ortega; and son, Albert Ortega.
Survivors include his sons, Alfred Ortega (Adele), of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robert Ortega (Patricia), Miami, and David Ortega (Rose), of Port St. Lucie, Florida; daughter, Yolanda Irizarry (Ismael); one brother; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Alfredo’s life will take place on Wednesday , November 29, 2017 at Aycock Funeral Home , 505 S Federal Highway, Stuart , Florida 34994 from 10-11 am with a service at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Fernhill Memorial Garden in Stuart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, Florida 34981.
