Alyce Joyce Doyle

Joyce was born on February 17, 1934 in Parkin, Arkansas to the late Roy and Alice Hollenbeck. With the love of her life and first husband, Eddie Clasgens, she had three children. They remained happily married until Eddie’s untimely death in 1969. Joyce suffered another devastating blow in 1976 with the tragic loss of her beloved son, Edward Clasgens, III. She eventually married the late Charlie Doyle.

Through all the highs and lows of her life, Joyce embodied the elegance and grace of Jackie O, and the comedic chops of Lucille Ball. She had a larger than life personality with a booming voice that carried her veracity cross country. Her quick wit was a constant source of amusement for her family and friends. But, more importantly, her wisdom was awe inspiring to everyone she met.

Joyce was a pioneer for the working woman. She held many impressive job titles including owning and running a pool and patio business where her creativity kept the business alive. She also worked at a surgery center in Port St. Lucie, FL where she was deeply loved. Somehow, she always made time for volunteering, both as a “pink lady” and manna kitchen worker at her local church throughout her life.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddie, her son, Edward, and her husband, Charlie. Carrying her strength are her two living daughters, Stephanie Pearigen and Susan Mondo and their husbands, Phil and Paul, respectively. Joyce was an extraordinarily loving grandmother to her two grandchildren, Jenna Pinchbeck and Austin Pearigen, and a true blue sister to her two brothers Roy and David Hollenbeck, as well as four stepdaughters and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Jensen Beach, FL on May 29, 2021 at 11:30 am. A Celebration of Life will be held in Memphis, TN at a later date.
