She was born April 8, 1938, to the late Catherine and Joseph Ardito. She loved telling stories of her fond memories, growing up in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY with aunts, uncles and cousins in the same building. Betty Ann (often called Junie) was warm, friendly, outgoing and “never met a stranger”. She got her teaching degree when she had joined the convent with the Sisters of Mercy in North Carolina for several years and was an elementary school teacher before leaving to move back to New York and work in telecommunications for Bell south, (which later became AT&T, and then Verizon). She later got her Master’s degree in psychology and continued to work with the phone company in training and human resources.
In 1985, she married the late Frank McDonald. Shortly after marrying, they decided to live on their boat in Freeport, NY for several years but later moved to the Stuart, FL area, where they spent the rest of their lives. She loved caring for their nephew, Chris, and volunteering i the local nursing homes and hospital.
She is also preceded in death by her brother, Peter, and her sister, Kathryn (Michael) Volgende. She will be greatly missed by her surviving, loving family and friends, including her nieces, Cathy Snaith (Russ) and Barbara (Owen) O’Connor, and nephew, Michael (Elizabeth) Volgende, and especially her nephew, Chris Ardito.
