

On April 25, 1950, in Greenwich, Connecticut, a beautiful and charming baby boy was born to the late parents of Wallace and Jean Carpenter. They named him Charles Richard Carpenter, AKA Chip. Chip passed away on July 27, 2025, in Port Saint Lucie, FL at Cleveland Clinic Tradition hospital with his wife and stepchildren by his side.
Chip became a resident of Mariner Sands in the 70’s and remained a resident until 2014. During his lifetime he was a lifeguard, boy scout and an outstanding leader for Connecticut Jaycees. He received numerous leadership awards. Charles enjoyed driving his mustangs, sitting by the oceanside (therapy for his soul) he loved his pet dog Sharee, which was supportive, protective, and loving to his needs. Chip loved attending Food Truck Events as well.
Chip retired from the Martin County Golf Course in the cart rental department where he was employed for over 15 years.
Charles married his loving and caring caregiver Betty Tyson Smith. He often referred to her as “His wife for Life”. Charles leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Betty Carpenter, brother Robert (Janet) Carpenter, 3 Stepchildren Ursula Stevens, Maurice Smith II and Bernard Hunter and a host of family and friends who loved and will truly miss him. Charles Richard "Chip" Carpenter, age 75, of Stuart, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
A celebration of life for Charles will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL 34997, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Monday, August 18, 2025 there will be a burial at Mariner Sands Cemetery at 10:00 AM.
