Charles, a WW2 Navy veteran, was originally from Brighton MA moving to Marshfield where he and Ellie brought up their 6 children. He had a tile and real estate business before serving the Marshfield Police Department from 1956 until his retirement as Chief of Police in 1984. He was one of the original three on the Marshfield Police Scuba team. After retirement, he and Ellie would spend summers in Marshfield and winters in Key West, Big Pine Key and Stuart FL.
He was never one to sit still, so true retirement was not an option. He was a bartender at the Conch Flyer (Key West airport) before opening his own Sports Bar “Charlies Place” in Key West. Whether he was mowing neighbor’s lawns, busing tables at Scooters or teaching a handicap child to swim, he was always willing to lend a hand.
Hardworking and always dedicated to family and friends, his priority was ensuring his Ellie would always be taken care of.
