

Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, he was a resident of Hobe Florida for the past 39.
Before he retired, Christian was a plant supervisor for the Book Binding Division of CR Gibson & Co.
He was a member of the American Legion for 65 years. He was an avid wood worker; an amateur artist and a jazz drummer.
Christian served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was of Protestant faith.
He is survived by his son B. Scott Bennewitz and his wife Barbara of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter, Kate Bennewitz and grandson, Alexander Bennewitz; his sister Ruthie Dunn of Norwalk, CT; sister and brother-in laws, Virginia and Richard Carricato of Hobe Sound, FL; Eleanor and Charles Bedient of Hobe Sound, FL, and his beloved four-legged friend, Clayton.
He is predeceased by his wife Katherine and his sisters Eleanor Schroebar and Ida Sisk.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19 at 11:00 am at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart.
Inurnment will be at Fernhill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
