Born on December 5, 1934, Duane lived a life marked by quiet strength, a generous heart, and an unwavering love for his family.
Duane grew up on a farm in both Kansas and Colorado, where he developed the simple, hardworking spirit that would characterize his life.
He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. He spent many years living in Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Hobe Sound, Florida.
Duane was a simple man in the best sense of the word. He didn't need much for himself, but he gave so much to others. He possessed a strong yet gentle spirit and a generous heart, always willing to give of himself to those he loved. Above all else, his family meant everything to him. His love was steadfast, his presence a source of strength, and his life a testament to the beauty of a man who found meaning in caring for others.
His faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life, and while his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave so freely and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on through the generations of his family.
Duane was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Emerick, and his two sons, Glenn Emerick and Phillip Emerick.
He leaves behind his loving daughter, Cindy Russell, and her husband, Mel “Rusty” Russell; his grandchildren, Josh Russell and his wife, Jennifer, and Tiffany Kellam and her husband, Josh; and his great-grandchildren, Keira and Seth Russell, and Reagan, Kennedy, and Lincoln Kellam.
Duane's life reminds us that a person's legacy is not measured by what they possess, but by the love they give, the lives they touch, and the faith they leave behind. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, a generous soul, and a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
