My daddy was Shorty's barber for over 30 years. When I turned 21 and became old enough to serve beer Shorty hired me. What a life changing event to work at Shorty 's. My dad was from outside Macon, Georgia and one summer when I went to Grandmaws Shorty and James his half brother asked me to go to Macon vital statistics office and get copies of their birth certificates. So I did. Shorty was an excellent business man. Great to have worked for him.

The Asti's send their condolences. We were next door neighbors of Mr. Allen on Hardie Road. The four of us boys many times used his side yard to set off bottle rockets as part on the "space program." Nothing seemed to bother him. He would come to check on us, not to run us off but to make sure we were OK. Every time I saw him he had a smile. Our best to the family.

Thank you for Many of the best dining moments of my life. Eating at Shorty's was always a highlight of the tripto and from the Keys from Miami Beach when I was a kid. Still terrific and true to Shorty's memory.

I worked at Shorty's for several years when it opened after the fire. Best BBQ anywhere! I knew Shorty's granddaughter Terri. We had horses at the same barn and she and her mother are the ones that started me busing talbes at Shorty's. My sympathy to the family.

With deepest sympathies to the Allen family. As being a personal friend for 50 years and an employee for 29 years at Shorty's B.B.Q. you couldn't of ask for or known anybody as kind or good as "Shorty '.He touched a lot of lives as well as gave a lot of his time to everyone that ever knew him.
