I met Ed through his son Eddie and felt the love between father and son. Eddie had told me about his father, how at 90 years plus he was still golfing, driving, going to the gym, and I admired his Dad’s resilience, and commitment by joining the military, serving with dignity and putting our country first. Eddie would tell me how he and his Dad would have dinner together every Saturday night and I saw the bond they shared. When I met Ed I saw why Eddie was a dedicated son. Great guy to sit and chat with, always sharing a story. Few left like him. He is missed deeply, but his memory lives on.

for those of you wishing to honor my father's memory, a donation in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital will be greatly appreciated

a few notes about my dad... he was born in 1929 in Brooklyn, NY... abandoned at birth, he was raised in the Angel Guardian Home and various foster homes... he dropped out of Fort Hamilton High School to enlist in the US Army, where he proudly served in Germany and Austria, and earned the WW2 Victory, Liberation, and Occupation Medals for his service. upon his return to the USA he met my mother Alice, married and raised a family.... sadly, my mother got sick in the 70s, and my father was there for her every day until her passing in 1979, always telling her how much he loved her. Dad worked for Bond Bread, Wonder Bread, Drake's Bakery's and finally the NY Daily News until his retirement in 1995...for the last 15 years he enjoyed living in Florida, and golfing and playing pool with friends...his passing leaves a void in my life, because he was also my friend. His final words to me were : " you are a great son, I love you and am very proud of you. "... dad's RESILENCE to life's ADVERSITIES is what I cherish about him, and will try to imitate myself for the rest of my life... God Bless you dad for a life well lived .
