Raised in Clifton, New Jersey to Norman and Lucile Williamson, he grew up known as “Danny” in a loving home with lots of nearby family, trips to the beach, and his younger sister, Helen Veronica “Ron” by his side. He attended high school at St. Peter’s Prep. He went on to study at Stevens Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Engineering. He would often tease his children and grandchildren, many of whom would also go on to become Engineers, that “there were no specialties back then like ‘Electrical’ - you had to learn it all”. He was a smart and diligent worker, and spent most of his career working for General Electric. Work brought him across the country, including to South Dakota - where he met his beloved wife, Carole Anderson whom he joked “followed him throughout Rapid City”.
Carole and Ed wed on June 16th, 1962. They had three children Teri, Lisa, and Scott and settled into family life in Clifton Park, New York. Ed was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed teaching his children how to ski, swimming each year at the pool, and summer trips to Lake George. He could always be found in attendance cheering on soccer, swimming, softball, and drama performances. His family brought him great joy.
After retiring, Ed moved to South Florida and settled in Stuart where he would spend the remainder of his life. He enjoyed fishing with his good friend Charlie, scuba-diving, warm, sunny weather, a good glass of scotch, and lots of time with his friends. He loved hosting dinners and holidays at his home, where he was a talented chef- always plating up hors-d’oeuvres for his family. His grandchildren could always count on him for a good joke, a root beer float, and a last minute ride home! He was able to pass his jokes to the next generation when he met his two great grandchildren this year. He was a rock for his family, generous and kind, and was an active member of the Catholic church his whole life.
Ed is survived by his wife, Carole Williamson, his sister, H. Veronica Power, his three children, Teri Greentree, Lisa Escalante, and Scott Williamson, his seven grandchildren, Patrick, Brandon, Emily, Abigail, Logan, Piper, and Chase, and his two great-grandchildren Theo and Siena. Only one of the whole brood can “wiggle” their ears like Grandad!
The family is grateful to the employees of Treasure Coast Hospice who cared for him at the end of his life. A funeral mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church on Saturday, November 22nd at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to a charity of the donor's choice or taking yourself and family out for an ice cream!
