OBITUARY

Evelyn "Cookie" Nelson

March 30, 1918April 23, 2021

Evelyn Valore Nelson of Stuart, FL passed away on April 23, 2021. She was born on March 30, 1918 in Detroit, MI to Virgil and Valore Sherrick.

She was predeceased by her two beloved husbands, Richard M Beck and Arthur R Nelson.

Evelyn volunteered for 23 years at Molly’s House, retiring in March of 2019 at 101 years old. She volunteered at the Cleveland Clinic (formerly Martin County Hospital), knitting blankets for preemies, prayer shawls and other needed items over 5000 hours. At the First Methodist Church, she volunteered for many years on the Counting Committee. Cookie received commendation from the Presidents Bush Sr, Bush Jr and Obama for her extraordinary hours of service. Evelyn will be missed by so many others who knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home – Stuart. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 1500 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the Church with Burial Service held at Fernhill Cemetery immediately following.

Evelyn "Cookie" Nelson is already missed by the many who loved her. That includes me, her pastor. Lots of fond memories will be shared at Saturday's service and for many years to come.
