Francis (Frank) Peter Bensel died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the age of 87 near his home in Tequesta, FL. Frank was born on March 1, 1934 in New York City to his parents, Francis Scott and Nora Bensel and grew up in Riverdale, NY. Frank went on to school at Holy Cross (1955) then received his law degree from Fordham Law School (1958). Following law school, he served in the US Airforce in Okinawa in the Judge Advocate General program. When he returned home, he went to work for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and later joined Martin, Clearwater & Bell. He became a partner at Martin, Clearwater & Bell in 1975 where he litigated many important cases in the medical field for 30 years. He married Sarah (Sally) Igo on October 12, 1963 and had six children – Caitlin Brown, Anne Bensel, Frank Bensel, MaryJo Demetriades, Diane Bensel and Michael Bensel – and 8 grandchildren all of whom he cherished. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Irene Markley and Joan O’Rourke.
Frank was very active in his community of White Plains, NY through Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St Agnes Hospital and Westchester Hills Golf Club. He retired in Jupiter and Tequesta FL and was a member of Turtle Creek Club where he continued to play the sport he loved. The only thing he loved more than golf was his family. Frank Bensel lived a life of integrity, kindness, generosity and humor.
