Born in New York, Ted grew up in Garden City, Long Island and graduated from the Choate School and Dartmouth College. He worked for several New York private investment companies including Fowler and Rosenau, a New York Stock Exchange specialist firm.
A self-styled golf "nut" and lover of fishing and skiing, Ted served on numerous non-profit boards including the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club.
His survivors include his wife Laura Van Ness Remsen; his daughters Ellen Remsen Webb, Meg Remsen, Dana Brooks and Alix LaMotte; and 10 grandchildren.
