At 12:10 AM on February 25, 2017, George Lawrence Britton, Sr. passed from this life at his beloved home into the arms of Jesus in Heaven. George fought a hard, long fight with cancer and is now free from suffering and pain. He will be remembered for his work ethic, sense of humor, and love of his wife and family.
George was born on January 24, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Frederick Earl Britton and Mary Cathleen Connelly and was one of six children. In 1958, he moved with his family from New York to Hobe Sound, Florida.
In 1965, George married Linda Sutton Britton, and they were blessed with two children and three granddaughters. George loved to spend time with his family, take care of his yard, and everyone knew that he loved a hot, fresh cup of coffee. He owned and managed Britton Sod from 1974-1994; worked at Costco as a meat cutter for the past twenty-four years; and Aycock Funeral Home for twenty-three years. In addition, he served as a member and board member of the Martin County Fair Association for over twenty-five years.
George is preceded in death by his brother Fred Britton.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Linda Britton of Stuart, FL.; daughter Ginger Eha (Gary Eha) and son George L. Britton Jr.; three granddaughters – Michelle Eha, Melissa Eha and Alexandrea Britton (Colin McBride); brother Robert; sisters Barbara, Mary and Ruth; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
