God decided Glenn’s great work on this earth was complete and called him to heaven.
Born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Glenn grew up in Miami, FL and graduated with a BA degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida where he met his wife of 64 years, Gloria.
Glenn was a 32nd degree Mason and loved his work as a civil engineer building power plants in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, and Mexico. His passion for the satisfaction of seeing a job well completed led to his success as an engineer and the respect of his industry peers.
His love for his work was surpassed only by his love for, and selfless dedication to, his family. While working across the country and abroad he and his surviving wife Gloria raised and provided for their three children; daughter Dawn Botsford, Esq. of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter Dr. Dana Falappi (Mark) of Venetia, PA; and son Glenn Botsford (Susan) of Orlando, FL. Glenn taught his children how to swim, fish, camp, and water ski and provided them with a foundation for success through education.
More importantly, he showed them how a man could live a full and happy life without compromising his core values.
During his retirement Glenn loved visiting and being teased by his grandchildren Stephanie, Marci, Bryce, and Blake. He enjoyed traveling and cruising around the world with his family and pointing out all the places he had been when he saw them in movies and on TV.
A great husband, father, grandfather of four, and man who always put others first was called to heaven. If God has tools and needs work done, the tools will be organized and the work will be done and done well. Those who met him here on earth were lucky. Those who did not, will hopefully be lucky enough to meet him in heaven.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on October 7, 2017 at 10:30 am at the South Hills Masonic Hall, 541 McNeilly Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15226. Lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or March for Maddie, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, 3401 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or https://chop.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.personalCampaign&participantlD=41888.
