Gloria Charlotte Straub

Gloria Charlotte Reeves Straub left this world on July 26, 2024. She was born in Miami. Florida to Albert William and Hazel Power Reeves on September 27, 1928. She graduated from Ponce de Leon High School in Coral Gables, and went to Florida State College for Women, now FSU. She taught in schools in several Florida cities as her husband moved in his job assignments. After her divorce, she went to Jacksonville University and Keystone College in Pennsylvania for her Master’s Degree and later to Kent State University in Ohio for her Doctorate Degree. She moved back to Florida and taught at College of Central Florida where she retired for the first time. She moved to Stuart with her mother and sister and began teaching again at Indian River Community College, now IRSC. She retired a second time and was active gardening and enjoying the company of her cats. She was warm hearted and generous and made friends easily. She is survived by her sister Barbara Reeves Poglitsch. There are probably numerous cousins since both paternal grandparents can be traced back to 1633 and 1635. There will not be a service. Any donations may be sent to the Treasure Coast Humane Society.
