

Born August 26th 1931 in Twin Branch, West Virginia, she moved to Washington DC where she joined the U.S. Government Service and eventually earned the title of Director of Policy and Legislation.
Mrs. Horton married her late husband James T. Horton, U.S. Appellate Court Judge in 1970, and they moved to Port St. Lucie on his retirement in 1977. She became a very successful real estate broker in St. Lucie County, encouraging friends and family to follow them to the area.
In 1994, she applied to the Federal Communication Commission for an FM radio frequency license, started Horton Broadcasting, Inc., and embarked on another new and successful career.
Helen had great love for family and friends and enjoyed entertaining. Her August Summer Party and New Year’s Eve Party were desired invitations.
Preceding her in death were her sisters Rena Josephine Hamlet, Willie Iowa Mason, Martha Mason and brother William Francis Mason.
Surviving Mrs. Horton, is sister Hallie Mae Hamlet of Port St Lucie, daughter Toni Laverne Brady, sons Eric Carlton Brent and Amiel Marcus Summers, granddaughters Candace L. Chapman, Tiffanni Stroy, and four great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday 18th February 2016 at 5:00 pm. Aycock Funeral Homes, 505 South Federal Highway, Stuart FL 34994.
