Born in the Bronx, New York, Mr. Snyder previously lived in Miami, Florida before moving to the Treasure Coast in 2000.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country in World War II, as well as the Korean War. After his time in the military, Mr. Snyder went on to become the Chief Building and Zoning Officer of Dade County.
He was of Christian faith and was larger than life. Mr. Snyder will truly be missed, but he is now enjoying the splendors of Heaven with his wife and true love, Olga, who passed away in 2013.
He is survived by his sons, Sheriff William Snyder, FL; Daniel Snyder, FL; grandsons David Snyder and his wife Amanda, FL; State Representative John Snyder and his wife Brittany, FL; granddaughter Laura McHugh and her husband Micah, TX; six great-grandchildren, William Snyder III, Charlotte Snyder, Elizabeth Snyder, Reagan Snyder, Silas McHugh and Everly McHugh.
Mr. Snyder was predeceased by his sisters, Harriett and Estelle.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00am at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, FL.
