Born in Manhasset and raised in Valley Stream, New York, Joan was the daughter of Margaret and Raymond Croak and sister to Billy, Ellen, and Clair.
In her quest for sand and sun, Joan migrated south, and for the next 30 years she called Florida home, where she built a beautiful life with her husband, John, and their sons, Ryan and John, and their wives, Megan and Joanna. She was a matriarch in every sense of the word — the heart of her family, always surrounded by the people and pups she loved most.
Joan lived fully and loved unconditionally. She was an avid reader, happiest in a beach chair overlooking the water with a good book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. She laughed easily and often, and her warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Joan will be deeply missed by the countless family members and friends whose lives she filled with love.
A visitation will be held at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, FL 34997, on August 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Hwy, Hobe Sound, FL 33455, US, on August 29, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
