Born and raised in Hawley, Pennsylvania, Karen began her career with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Roger, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Together they eventually made their home in Florida, where Karen worked at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center for more than 20 years.
Karen was a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, loving sister, and dear friend. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Roger, and her infant daughter, Elizabeth.
She found joy in the simple beauty of life. She loved tending her orchids and garden, which brought her great peace and happiness. Karen was also an avid baker and a dedicated self-taught pianist. She was known for her unwavering perseverance in everything she undertook, but above all else, she treasured her family. Her love was steady, kind, generous, and unconditional, and those who knew her will carry that love with them always.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Lisa Miller of Stuart, Florida, and Lee Ann Roaf, wife of Michael Roaf, of Stuart, Florida; her grandson, Robert J. Lloyd Jr. of Seattle, Washington; her sisters, Phyllis Doering, wife of Richard Doering and Lynne Dagger, wife of Craig Dagger; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A Funeral Mass and memorial service will be held at a later date at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hawley, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
Her greatest legacy was the love she gave so freely to her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
